Acai (pronounced ‘ah-sigh-ee’) is a small dark-purple colored fruit that grows in the Amazon. Acai has been cultivated and used in the diets of natives for hundreds of years. Acai is an excellent source for antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins, and Omega 3.

Can Acai Berries Promote Healthy Weight Loss?

There are several key characteristics that the acai berry possesses that promote healthy weight loss. Acai contains antioxidants which help your body get rid of toxins. This in turn helps you feel more alert and energized. The omega 3 in acai boosts your metabolism, enabling you to digest food quicker and more efficiently whilst burning more calories. The large amount of fiber found in acai helps suppress your making you feel more full.

Do Acai Berries Possess Any Known Side-Effects?

Overconsumption of food products almost always has side effects. As of yet, no scientific study has been carried out which proves that acai is in any way negative for ones health. Acai berry is rich in fibre, which when consumed in high amounts causes appetite suppression. Appetite suppression is not generally considered a ‘bad side-effect’ due to the fact that it will help you lose weight. However for some people, high fibre content may lead to gastric discomfort. High fibre helps your body get rid of toxins and waste materials, allowing your body to functionproperly.

The acai berry has been featured all over the media, most notably on talk shows like Oprah and Rachel Ray. In many news stations, such as on NBC, CBS, and ABC, the media reports acai berries as “One of 5 Good-For-You Foods You May Have Never Heard Of.”
